David Moessner's message is that the travel narrative in Luke 9:51-19:44 is not the incoherent hodgepodge that some have suggested in the past, but it is Luke's presentation of Christ as the prophet like Moses, who would lead His people into salvation. Moessner convincingly demonstrates that just as Moses led a stiff necked group of people to the edge of the promised land that they could only enter upon/through the death of Moses, so Jesus the prophet like Moses (Deuteronomy 18:15-18) led a stiff necked, obstinate group of people to the promised land of salvation that they could only enter upon/through the death of Jesus.
