Benjamin Ingraham was a United Empire Loyalist, who came to New Brunswick, Canada, after the American Revolution, landing in Saint John in the early fall of 1783. By October, he moved his family to St. Ann's (now Fredericton). With tools he had brought with him, he cut logs, and by November the family moved into their new cabin. Many Loyalists spent the winter in tents, and many died. Later, Benjamin settled at the top of what is now called Forest Hill on his grant of 21 acres. Over time, this eventually grew to 203 acres. He died in 1810. His unmarked grave is in the Old Burying Ground between Brunswick and George Streets in Fredericton.
